The world lost another musical icon this early morning as Jimmy Buffett passed away at the age of 76. His work wasn't about actual work. It was about enjoying sand at your feet, the sound of the ocean or being on a boat living the chill life. "Margaritaville" is his signature tune that is played at every drinking establishment and radio stations. He made eating a cheeseburger in paradise the most enticing thing ever. He connected with audiences who are dubbed "Parrotheads" and gave everyone a sense of paradise even when we weren't in actual paradise.
Buffett was a huge sports fan and would always be courtside to cheer on his beloved Miami Heat. His passion for the Heat was unmatched. He was actually ejected from a game in 2001. He also had a business relationship with good friend, Stephen Ross (will not use the nickname here out of respect) and the Miami Dolphins. Buffett's Landshark lager had naming to the Dolphins' stadium for one year. You bet your bottom dollar that "Margaritaville" and many of his hits were blaring in various sports venues and his Margaritaville restaurants are there for many people to enjoy.
So, tonight, while watching a game, take a bite of that cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and a big kosher pickle, then raise that glass of beer for the main Parrothead up in heaven.
R.I.P. JIMMY BUFFETT 1946-2023
