I wasn't really going to comment on this, because last year was the standard for this team, but a little birdie told me about a certain someone saying a certain thing and it got my attention.

Jason Kelce has been given a platform after his retirement from the NFL. In fact, he has been given many platforms. On his podcast that he has with his brother, the fiance of Taylor Swift, Kelce was adamant about how the World Series ended and who won it. Here is what he said, word for word...

"So, you're telling me I'm supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team, and a team that just spends more money than everybody else? That's why baseball sucks! You just buy World Series championships. It's the dumbest thing in the world."

First off, did Mr. Kelce even watch the World Series? Apparently, the country of Canada wanted to see it so much that they played the games on the video monitor during NHL games, which caused Connor McJesus to complain. Secondly, yes, the Los Angeles Dodgers did have the highest payroll in MLB this year with a $350 million tab. The second on the list was the New York Mets with a $345 million payroll, a team that didn't even make the playoffs. The moral of the story is you can spend money to build a squad that can hopefully lift the Commissioner's Trophy at the end of the season, but you need the deseo to persevere.

I've gone a few paragraphs without sending my congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers for doing something that no MLB team has done in 25 years, repeat as World Series champions. Think about that, MLB hasn't been able to produce a dynasty like the San Francisco Giants winning three World Series championships in as many years, but they never did it back-to-back. The Boston Red Sox broke the curse and has won four World Series during this time, but never back-to-back. The Dodgers were the ones to stomp the narrative for a quarter century.

The Dodgers win over the Blue Jays wasn't an easy feat.

-The series went to seven games.

-Two games went into extra innings, including Game 7 and they had an 18-inning marathon.

-Toronto dominated in the three games they won.

-The Blue Jays held a 3-2 advantage heading back to Rogers Centre.

-Toronto was up 3-0 after a Bo Bichette home run, which prompted me to post this...

Also, I apologize and congrats on being a three-time World Series Champion, Dave.

-And finally, THE BLUE JAYS NEEDED TWO OUTS TO WIN THE TITLE!

So, if he is insinuating that L.A. paid to win this World Series, it looks like they paid ultimate prices to even win Game 7.

A couple of years ago, I probably would have been on Jason Kelce's side and said that the Dodgers are buying their way to championships. However, the 2025 squad didn't exactly light the baseball world on fire. They seemed to struggle throughout the season to where "their brothen from LA" (I use that term loosely) in the Anaheim Angels swept them in six games. This year was one of the Dodgers starting their playoff run in the Wild Card round. Despite Mark Walter, owner of the team, trying his best to fund his franchise to get them to that promised land, L.A. experienced an uphill climb to win it all.

Since writing this, Kelce has walked back on his comments and stated he didn't mean any malicious intent. I believe he is telling the truth, but this is what happens when you give someone too much of a platform a la Kevin Hart and Sydney Sweeney.

I will say this again, Dodger fans, get the grill out for your Farmer John sausages, fill up your car with 76 gasoline and hear Vin Scully's voice in the distance while you toast your 805 beer. This was well earned.
